Lots of nasties on the internet can do all sorts – from freeze your computer to nab your bank details.
Or just cause all sorts of havoc with everything you try to do on your PC, tablet or smartphone.
Are you safe?
You might think you’re safe because you run antivirus software or because you have Apple devices – but it’s not true. That helps, sure, but it doesn’t protect you against everything.
Not being properly protected is like going on holiday, leaving your front door wide open and putting up a sign “Burglars welcome”. You wouldn’t be daft enough to do it in the real world – and my guess the only reason you do it online is because no-one’s told you what you should be doing.
We’re the Helpful Book Company and we publish books about how to use technology – from PCs to tablets, from smartphones to protecting your privacy. Most of the books aren’t free, of course, but this one seemed so crucial that we decided to give it away as an ebook.
You don’t have to pay a penny
Of course, we hope you might go on to buy one of the other books afterwards – many people do. But you don’t need to – that’s up to you.
Anyway, to get Staying Safe on the Net emailed to you straight away, just pop your name and email address in the box below. You’ll also get my weekly “Tim’s Tech Tips” emails with tips, advice and news that’ll help you online and with using your PC, tablet or smartphone. (You can cancel that at any point if you like – but I think you’ll find it interesting.)
You’ll get an email from me every week, along with extra emails when there’s something I think you might find useful or interesting.
Just put your name and email address here – don’t miss out and don’t carry on without knowing how to keep yourself safe on the internet:
